Paying School Fees for Orphaned Siblings in Chawama

Published

Grace and her two younger brothers lost both parents within six months of each other. At 17, Grace became the head of the household, dropping out of school to look after her siblings aged 12 and 9.

A neighbour reached out to Pamulomo Zed Show after seeing Grace selling tomatoes at the roadside at 5am every morning just to buy bread for her brothers.

Zed visited the family and was moved by Grace's resilience. The community rallied together and within a week, school fees for all three children were paid for the full year, and a monthly food basket was arranged.

The Outcome

Grace returned to school and is now in Grade 12. Her brothers are both performing well academically. A local church has adopted the family for ongoing support.
